Job Opportunity - Editorial Intern

Description:

Halftime Magazine®, a bimonthly publication and online community, is seeking a self-motivated part-time editorial intern to have hands-on responsibilities for various projects during the summer of 2010 and beyond.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Write department pieces and features for online and print publication
  • Fact-check and copy-edit articles
  • Coordinate with freelancers and other contacts for submitted writing and photography
  • Review layout design
  • Support circulation management
  • Review marketing materials and opportunities
  • Manage social media

Skills desired:

  • Journalism coursework in writing and editing
  • Clear written and verbal communications
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving
  • Proficiency with business and marketing concepts
  • Proficiency with AP stylebook
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity and enjoyment of instrumental music performance

Details:

  • This is an unpaid position with school credit available
  • Interns will mostly be working from home and on their own schedules with occasional meetings and events
  • Interns will have the opportunity to expand their portfolio with published clips and will gain valuable experience in all aspects of magazine production
