TASCAM Next Generation DR-X Digital Audio Recorders

TASCAM next generation DR-X digital audio recorder.

At the start of 2019, TASCAM released the next generation of its DR-X Series digital audio recorders. The DR-X series includes several different models, each with a unique set of features to aid in audio recording. The new DR-07X model includes dual scalable unidirectional A/B or X/Y configurable mics, which help musicians record a clear sound, while the DR-05X model includes omnidirectional condenser mics to aid in music recording. The DR-40X’s integrated unidirectional stereo microphones are useful for videographers, voiceover artists, songwriters, and podcasters.

For a lot of music educators, letting students listen back to recordings of their practices and performances helps them address areas for improvement. “All DR-X models boast a totally revamped user interface, making it easy to access recording, adjusting levels, deleting takes, adding markers, and other common functions with just the click of a thumb,” according to a January press release from TASCAM.

This system could also be useful for marching band directors who want to incorporate audio recordings into their outdoor rehearsals and performances. One of the new features of the DR-X Series is a backlit display with bright white lighting, intended to make the screen readable in sunlight and outdoor conditions.
