Grant Fuels Music For All
By Janel Healy With the help of a recent $495,000 grant from Lilly Endowment, a private philanthropic foundation, Indianapolis-based Music for All can finally begin constructing a large-scale fundraising program— still in the planning process—to help bring equal music education to every student in the country. Music for All became a cause-driven organization when the Music for All Foundation merged with Bands of America in 2006. Taking “Music for All” as its umbrella name, the company stopped focusing primarily on hosting events and began advocating for increased accessibility of music education programs for all students—not just for those who can afford it or the musically gifted. In addition, Music for All conducts research to gauge arts education levels on a state-by-state basis. To stay updated on the project, visit www.musicforall.org. |
Halftime MagazineTM, a bimonthly print publication and online community, presents the sights, sounds and spirit of the marching arts, providing education, entertainment and inspiration for students, directors, alumni and fans of high school marching band, college marching band, drum corps, color guard and winter guard, indoor drum line or percussion, and all-age ensembles. A portion of subscription sales will be donated to marching programs across the country. |
