So how can music job seekers and potential employers find one another? Enter the U.S. Scholastic Band Association’s (USSBA) music career networking site, bandjobs.org, which launched in May. The site came about as people flooded the forums at YEA, USSBA’s parent organization, with posts regarding employment. “Basically, we get a lot of questions … by people looking for jobs and positions teaching and writing drill,” says Stephen Frederick, USSBA executive consultant. “Likewise, we get a lot of questions asking to find people for those positions.” Employers can post jobs on the site and search for potential employees while job seekers can peruse music-related listings, upload a resume and apply to jobs that match their interests. Visit www.bandjobs.org for more information. |
