Aerator Garment Bag

Uniform managers and uniform manufacturers alike caution that students should let their uniforms air out before placing them in traditional garment bags (see the “How to Keep a Uniform Clean” story).

The new Aerator Garment Bag from Director’s Showcase International (DSI) allows marchers to immediately store their uniforms because a special mesh fabric lets the uniforms breathe.

“We talked to some corps about what they wanted to see in a bag,” says Tom Herald, president of DSI. “We came up with a bag where this mesh is the whole back of the bag, so that the uniforms can dry out.”

The fabric and mesh used in the bag was specially developed for the Aerator out of a taffeta-polyester blend to be lightweight and durable. The Aerator also features handles for easy carrying, an ID pocket and a mesh pouch to air out shoes. The fabric also keeps out dirt, dust and debris, quieting any concern about the mesh holes.

“The mesh is small enough that we haven’t had any issues with that at all,” Herald says. “We’ve thrown them on the floor to test them out, and the dirt does not get on the uniform.”

The Aerator bag is currently being used by The Cavaliers and Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps as well as numerous high schools. For more information, visit www.dshowcase.com.
