Thanks to ON2 Percussion’s Drum Slips, drums can go from solid colors to striking, visual components of a performance.
Drum Slips are precut, interchangeable, nonpermanent wraps of vinyl composite custom-made for different types and brands of marching drums. They fit snugly around the bodies of snares, tenors and bass drums, allowing marching groups to incorporate them into their shows as visual elements.
“There are so many groups out there that spend a lot of money and time making props and floors for indoor percussion, but the drums are usually left blank,” says Cassidy Byars, percussion instructor and CEO of ON2 Percussion. “So I tried to make a practical solution to incorporate a visual design that’s different depending on what their show is.”
Drum Slips do not require extensive effort to install. “I looked at it backwards,” Byars says. “Instead of taking everything off the drum, I decided that the best way to do it was to leave everything on, and then design wraps which we call ‘slips’ that have precise incisions that will fit around the equipment.”
