After several years of manually recruiting volunteers, the US Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) in Allentown, Pa., created a computerized system to assemble this year’s Fall Events Staff Team, also known as “FEST!” Alumni, donors and fans can now fill out an online form that assigns events based on volunteers’ preference for location and dates.
“We are now in 26 states, so we have 150 events in a 10-week period,” explains Jeff Goldstein, USSBA associate director. “This program lets [volunteers] know if we need help in the areas they want to help.” To volunteer, visit www.yea.org/ussba, select your region, and click the FEST! icon.
