Halftime Magazine® Aims to “Educate, Entertain and Inspire” Marching Band Participants
Strike up the band! Halftime Magazine®, a print and online publication that highlights the sights, sounds and spirit of marching band, premieres July 20 at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio with its inaugural July/Aug 2007 issue.
The bimonthly print magazine enhances marching musicians’ love of music and performance by providing education, entertainment and inspiration.
“Through this lifestyle magazine, students, directors, alums and fans will be able to share their stories and passion for marching,” says Christine Katzman, founder, CEO and publisher. “No other print publication currently exists that brings together all of the marching arts.”
Halftime connects high school and college musician-athletes through shared experiences about competitions, school spirit, and band traditions with profiles, first-person accounts and thought-provoking feature stories. The publication will also provide tips to enhance students’ musical and marching skills as well as news, event calendars and product reviews.
In conjunction with the print edition, Halftime Magazine® offers exclusive online content for marching band enthusiasts at www.halftimemag.com.
Halftime Magazine® is An Official Sponsor of the 2007 Drum Corps International World Championships and An Official Media Partner of the US Scholastic Band Association and WGI Sport of the Arts. In addition, a portion of subscription sales will be donated to band programs throughout the country.
“Halftime Magazine® has a social mission to support music education and the marching arts, not just write about them,” Katzman says.
Katzman graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s of science in journalism in 1997 and recently earned her MBA with honors from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. While at Northwestern, she played flute in the Northwestern University Marching Band (NUMB) and performed at the 1996 Rose Bowl and 1997 Citrus Bowl.
