Center Grove Arts Assistance Fund

With the budget cuts to education in Indiana threatening schools, communities are looking for ways to help save beloved programs. That is why two Center Grove marching band alumni Alyshia Kisor and Jenny Porter teamed up with the Center Grove Education Foundation to form the Center Grove Arts Assistance Fund.

The goal of the fund is to aid all the performing and fine arts at Center Grove. The fund will raise money that will be used for direct assistance to performing arts (such as band, choir, orchestra, winter guard, indoor percussion and theatre) and fine arts (such as drawing, painting, photography and ceramics).

The Center Grove Marching Arts Alumni (CGMAA) has more than 500 members spanning 30 years of marching band, winter percussion and color guard performers. For two years, the CGMAA has put on events, compiled a history of the program, and acted as a networking hub for all past marching arts group members.

Kisor and Porter were motivated by the lessons they learned as marching band members – lessons that have helped them be strong students, employees and community members.
